Mata Vaishno Devi shrine attracts millions of devotees annually. Located in the Trikuta Mountains in Jammu, the yatra involves a 12 km trek from Katra. Here are crucial tips to ensure a comfortable and smooth darshan.
1. Mandatory RFID Cards
The traditional paper slips have been replaced with RFID cards. Every pilgrim must collect their physical RFID card at the Katra railway station or counter before starting the trek. The card is scanned at various check-points.
2. Pre-booking Helicopters
Helicopters operate from Katra to Sanjichhat. Tickets must be booked online via the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board website well in advance. Keep your ID proof ready during boarding.
3. Battery Car & Pony Options
For seniors, battery-operated cars run between Adhkuwari and the Bhawan. These can also be pre-booked online. Ponies, palkis, and porters are easily available at fixed government rates at Katra.
